Custom guitars hand crafted in Los Angeles, CA.
Rusty Dutch Guitars are custom instruments built to order, specified any way you like. Releases are also occasionally available in my Reverb shop. Please get in touch via the Contact Form or DM on Instagram to discuss new builds.
Is there a waiting list?
The turn around on custom instruments is currently about 8 months. Non-custom guitars are occasionally posted to my Reverb store.
What finishes are available?
Pretty much all vintage spec colors. I use nitrocellulose based paints and lacquer, and can provide metallics as well. Gold and copper leaf is available at a premium, these finishes are hand-burnished and can be finished with oil or nitrocellulose lacquer. Generally I prefer oil finishes on necks, but can do nitro as well if that’s your preference.
I roll fingerboard edges and make the necks feel “worn in” as part of the process on all my guitars.
Can I choose any hardware?
Sure thing. I prefer Vega or Mannmade vibrato units, Gotoh hard tail bridges and Gotoh locking tuners, but you can specify anything you like if you have a preference.
Can I choose pickups?
Yep. My preference is Lollar or OX4 pickups as standard on custom models, but you can ask for anything.
Are these partscasters?
No, but if you want a basic T-Type or S-Types they can be built with CNC bodies to keep the cost down, but if something unusual is requested it will be hand-sawn and carved. All paint work and finishing is done in house, all instruments have hand-made necks and are all fretted and finished in-house.
How much is this going to cost?
It will depend on what you want, but a basic model starts at $1,350.
How do I order?
There is a 25% down payment to get started; the balance is due when the instrument is ready to ship. To get started shoot me an email: Contact
